Therefore, instead of having power from top to bottom, it shifts to from base to top. For instance, this was the case in Israel after specific sociopolitical processes took place regarding the Israel-Palestinian war (Ben-Porat & Mizrahi, 2005) What is the political culture of “alternative politics”? Besides, the political culture of alternative politics is usually assumed by citizens who are discontented with how the government is carrying out day to day services and is based on a “do it yourself” approach. Further, this type of political culture serves to come up with solutions to everyday problems informally. However, when this principle is absorbed into all levels of the community, it drags in even the bureaucrats and politicians. They then as a whole begin to ignore formal rues either by carrying out illegal activities or by sidelining official rules.

The Jewish leaders started to form Para-military forces. This was because they wanted to fight Arab paramilitary forces, illegally establish Jewish immigration and protect illegal settlers. This alternative form of political culture became passed down to other Israeli generations, and though sometimes it supports illicit methods, it is served to reach national goals. For example, in the 1980s the central government system was faced with a problem they termed as blocked influence channels and was not able to respond to the demand for public services. (Ben-Porat & Mizrahi, 2005) As a response to the situation, most of the Israeli population turned back to the alternative politics method. Therefore, this makes it a method that is used to come up with short-term solutions to the problem.
