He is the author of the “animism” theory; a belief in the universality of souls. He asserts that people applied religion when explaining their certain occurrences (Religulous, 2011). He believes that religion is initiative taken to explain things that happen in the world. They include distinction between soul and body as well as a corpse and the living body. Animism according to Tylor was used during ancient days to explain phenomena which were beyond human understanding. One is based on facts which can be proven while the other one is based on beliefs which are invisible and can only be conceptualized through faith. Therefore religion cannot be neutralized and be replaced by scientific theories. I also disagree with Tylor’s theory because his book expresses strenuous relationship between religion and science.
