The popularity of this sport may be as a result of the fact that it is likely to be played by individuals of all ages, gender, and physical stature. Although this sport may be performed by all individuals/, it is important to note that very few may be able to master the sport professionally. This may be done with the help of adequate coaching techniques (McKay, 2013). Cognitive Theory This theory involves the act of learning through observation. In football, the coach is responsible for monitoring the social behavior of athletes to be able to understand their potential. This, therefore, means that the coach is required to repeatedly subject football players to a specific skill exercise to ensure that they can gain relevant experience that may prove to be of great significance during an actual football match.
