They are considered to be in a stage of change and rapid growth, which itself means that the adolescence’s assessment at one given time will majorly be true for a short duration. An adolescent who has been in confinement for more than two months might get diverse results on a risk assessment as compared to that one who has been at home awaiting disposition. As such, justice-involved workforces handling these particular groups of youths have to be thoughtful of the development processes when focusing on the assessment of risk and ways of responding to them. In this paper therefore, I will focus on some of the assessment tools that I will use to decide how I can set aside the high-risk offenders, the two types of clients to be taken by the home, screening possible clients and the types of assessment for the group home.

Risk Assessment Tools There has been an extensive norm of utilizing risk assessment tools, specifically with adolescent offenders in the juvenile system. Some of the risk assessment tools that I will use eliminate the high-risk offenders include: • The Structured Assessment of Violence Risk in Youth (SAVRY) • Beck Youth Inventories (BYI-II) • The Risk Factor Profile Instrument (RFPI) • Early Assessment Risk List for Boys • Social Skills Improvement System • Early Assessment Risk List for Girls • Behavior Assessment of Empirically Based Assessment Therefore, when picking any of the above risk assessment tools, I will focus on two primary criteria (Ḳaminer, 2010). These would include; the compatibility between the tools and programs selection and the implementation criteria; and the objectives of both the tools and the programs.

When the above two criteria are factored into the process, it gets very easy to eliminate the high risk offenders. 2 Categories of Clients to be taken by the Home The home refuses to take in high risk offenders which mostly comprises of arsonists, sex offenders and even murderers. Therefore, the only types of clients that I will take in my home are the low and medium risk youthful delinquents. For instance a value of and below defines no risk; a value of 5. 9 to 10. 9, defines low risk; a value of 11 and 16. 9 defines moderate risk; while a value of 17 and above defines high risk. Also, I will do my screening based on various factors. We have to note that this is the primary part of risk assessment and must be handled with much caution.
