Taking equality and diversity as an integral requirement and principle of a healthcare organization is a means of promoting them. It ensures that equality and diversity is not viewed as an element of support but a duty to the respective individuals. Equality and diversity in healthcare sector touch on the patients and employees majorly. Patients should be treated uniformly irrespective of other factors like originality. This can be promoted through set policies within the healthcare which aimed at eliminating discrimination of patients. For instance, female surgeons are safeguarded by this act against being discriminated in their fields of expertise as incompetent in various healthcare organizations to carry out even minor surgical operations on patients. This act protects the female gender thus promoting equality in surgery field.

Ways through which Prejudice and Discrimination may lead to disempowerment Prejudice and discrimination of individuals especially patients in a healthcare organization is one way through which anti-diversity and inequality can be experienced. Patients and employees can be discriminated in different ways. According to World Health Organization (WHO) report of 2010, 4 women out of 10 trained in certain fields in healthcare end up unemployed due to gender discrimination on that field of the job (Clucas, 2012). The self-esteem of an individual is pegged on being seen as worthy in a society, any act to dislodge that worthiness lowers one’s esteem thus he/she feels unwanted. Discrimination, therefore, is the root cause of disempowerment societies we live in Legislation of Equality and Diversity within Healthcare Different governments and concerned authorities have been able to develop alternative ways through which such disempowerments can be regulated.

This involves the development of key principles of guidance that relate to legislative measures that are taken to develop laws that govern a healthcare setup. These laws are enforced and enacted to be able to promote equality and diversity as portrayed in the law for different sets of cases and involved individuals against the violated characteristic of human possession. They seek to put up a level ground through regulating those who go overboard and violate human rights for personal gain. Finally, the Care Act of 2014; this Act focuses in keeping the comfort of an individual by tailoring the care of the respective level to the requirement of an individual who are founded to the certain level of vulnerability. It ensures equity and fairness by creating a level ground for all individuals (Easton, 2011).
