During the sixty-year reign of Graham as a preacher, he helped to establish the American ethos by helping to come up with the myth that the United States of America is founded on Christian principles (Thomas, p. He was keen to note that the constitution did not mention God or Jesus anywhere and as a result formed a movement that saw Christianity incorporated in the American government. The preaching of Graham was often accompanied by quotes. He often addressed matters courage during his sessions. At one point in time, he said: "Courage is contagious. After high school, he joined a Christian school in Tennessee but later transferred to Florida Bible Institute where he was ordained in 1939. Armed with a bachelor's from Florida Bible College he moved to Illinois and enrolled at Wheaton College for further training.
