The study hypothesized that the food insecurity in the state dumped people into a swamp of poverty as the income of many of them could not suffice to take care of their basic needs. It also hypothesized that the cost of hunger was severe and disguised burden to all in America. This study adopted a sequential exploratory mixed method design of research. Using qualitative measures, the study administered interviews that were meant at providing answers to the research questions. The population of the study consisted of the residents of the Statesboro and simple random probability sampling design adopted and which a sample of 190 residents of the city of Statesboro were interviewed. Additionally, their voluntary participation resulted from the assurance that they got regarding the information that they gave and letting them know their help was highly appreciated.

The structured interview was a shown below: Findings and Analysis The data collected through interview was edited for obvious flaws and then coded ready for analysis (Gubert et al. This data was analyzed to determine the state of food security in Georgia, the problems that the residents faced as a result of the insecurity and in proving or negating the study hypothesis. It also gave insights of the role that the charitable organization played in complementing the efforts of the government and the recommendations to the problem. Of the total 190 interviewees who participated in the interview, 142 (74. 2% of the respondents hailed the efforts of the government in providing relief food to the most prone households through the programs of the federal food assistance.

57% of the study subjects despite acknowledging that the government was making an effort in improving the lives of households who looked up on state, they indicated that there is still a gap that the state government should fill. All the respondents took cognizance of the role played by charitable organizations, particularly, the Statesboro Food Bank.
