Among the plights was freedom of security, travel and religion which was much limited by the white segregation. In the free rider campaign, the role of the media was limited at one point due to no confrontations, and in Mississippi, violent opposition met from Washington DC led to extensive media attention. The freedom rides activists led to intervention from the administration of John Kennedy, and the students heightened tension between themselves and Martin Luther King, Jr. Who was against segregation but did not support the freedom riders campaigns? The Role Nonviolent Activists Hoped the Media would play in Freedom Movement The peaceful activities which comprised of students from Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) protested against racial segregation on interstate buses and bus terminals using non-violent means in the hope that their concerns might be attended upon.

The non-violent protesters hoped that the media would lightly cover their protests. However, media always present situations that are not true but instead simulations of truth. Statements from the press could ever receive criticism or praise. The images from the media usually affect my thinking about an issue in a way that is left wondering if the extent in which the problem is magnified is real or exaggerated and if it's a genuine issue, the way in which it could be handled. In today's world, technology has contributed to many news outlets. Unfortunately, the news sometimes from many sources can be very misleading. That was due to the nature in which civil right activist conducted their activities. They championed their fight against segregation through non-violent means.
