Medication use in treating psychological disorders have strengths such as relieving the symptoms of the disease, complete treatment of the psychological disease and improving the functionality and quality of life of the patient. The weaknesses of such medications may include adverse effects, drug dependence drug interactions, and having to remember to take the drugs at specific times for a long period of time. For example, Parkinsonism disease treatment with levodopa can cause dyskinesia, insomnia, blurred vision, appetite loss, and muscle pain may result as side effects. Psychoactive drugs have both harm and advantages in the treatment of psychotic disorders and the weight of advantages against disadvantages could promote the use or discouragement from use of the drugs. Harm associated with these dugs include physical dependence risk, psychological dependence risk, bingeing risk, negative damage to the family, property and relationships, and risk of abuse (Matson & Neal, 2009).
