In America, Chile region reported about 701 hepatitis A cases at the national level at the same time. Also, the health department in New York City has noted increased cases of hepatitis A among MSM and who had not reported international travel. World Health Organization (WHO) recommends hepatitis A vaccine to groups from low epidemicity areas that are at high risk including people who travel to epidemic areas, individuals who inject drugs, MSM and people with long-lasting liver infection (Gozlan, 2017). The vaccine has been made compulsory for MSM in the most affected countries. Hepatitis A is a communicable liver infection caused by hepatitis A virus. Secondly, in countries where there is an intermediate level of Hepatitis A, there is limited children exposure to the disease due to an improved sanitary condition.

According to (Morey, 2017), in those countries, the chances of HAV are very high among young children and grown person. Lastly, nations with low infection rate among all group ages have a rare outbreak of illness at every unprotected age. On the other hand, administering universal childhood HAV vaccine impacts immunity among children even during their adulthood and prevents children exposure to HAV disease. Hepatitis A virus can also be transmitted through food handlers who spread the infection to uninfected people who consume the food they prepare. Herd protection is also practiced to Americans who travel abroad which were recommended at the national level. These programs impacted in the limited incidences of infection among food handler at risk. On the other hand, the broad herd protection impacts the anti-HAV among adults between 30-49 years which was lowered thus leaving a large population of those adults at exposure (Klevens, 2015).
