These effects of poverty on the brain dictate some behaviors like violence. The article is related to psychology in the sense that it is explaining some of these behaviors with respect to the effects of poverty on the brain. There are conditions or rather stress scenarios that come along with poverty that can affect the development of a brain. These forms of stress include; overcrowding, poor housing, pollution, crime, abuse, noise, children separation from their parents, children exposure to violence, among others. These stressful conditions trigger the release of Cortisol hormone; this hormone is produced by the adrenal cortex to manage stressful situations. From the two studies, it was concluded that children from poor backgrounds have reduced grey matter that limits their ability to process information and affects their behavior as well.
