IFD operates a fleet of trucks that it uses to move “goods” belonging to its customers from one destination to another across the continental United States. This includes the movement of highly controlled, narcotics and scheduled prescription drugs, toxic, radioactive, nuclear, and top secret materials from one facility belonging to its customer to another. In addition to hauling/forwarding its customer’s products/goods, IFD is required from time to time to store its customer goods for brief periods of time. Two years ago IFD began contracting with a number of subcontractors hereafter referred to as either “joint ventures (JVs)” or “strategic alliances (SAs)” for the purpose of expanding its freight Forwarding, storage and delivery service. Due to the confidential nature of the freight that it transports, IFD vets its employees, as well as any subcontractors (JVs and SAs) that it engages.

With regard to SAs, IFD is the only organization that will contract with its customer or who will be identified to the customer. It will then enter into its own separate subcontractor contract with its SA, and the SA is not identified to IFD’s customer. There is no definitive number of SAs that contract with IFD. The specific SAs used (if any) will vary depending on the geographic location or area of the country involved and the availability and cost of the SA available to service the area. IFD is also under pressure from several of its competitors in the industry. Information from the officer indicates that the current state of infrastructure must be capable of withstanding a growth rate of about 10-15% growth every year for the next seven years with a three to four years phased technology refresh cycle.

There is a hodgepodge of servers, switches, routers and internal hardware firewalls. Nearly the entire infrastructure is woefully out of date in terms of patches and upgrades. This operational neglect has unduly increased the risk to the network and its confidentiality, integrity and availability. Since this will be a multi-year technology upgrade project, something must be done to reduce IFD’s exposure to vulnerability in order to increase the overall security profile and reduce the risk profile. The collective power of the workers to join together and work as one is one of the mains responses from the departments that involve in the supply of these products. Time is the second most record type. Information from them is that, saving time is saving quality and efficiency and hence improvement in production, distribution and supply of these narcotic drugs within the limited span of time required in the market by customers.
