Language and identity

A common language is usually selected among many different languages for people with different languages in a given region for them to be using despite the fact that they may be having knowledge of their original language thus a language serves as a tool for identity. At some points sign language is developed and used when oral communication is not appropriate or its faced with barriers. Communication developed into writing is as well a good means of passing information. For perfect communication using a given language for communication, learning and a lot of practices is required. Learning of a language is attained through learning be it in writing, listening and talking (Tan, 1990). A common language among people creates unity among them thus creating common life interests of the people sealing them as a community.
