Life on Planet Mars
These conditions make it almost impossible for most organisms to thrive on Mars. However, some micro-organisms have diverse microbial adaptations that allow them to thrive in extreme conditions such as freezing environments. Hence the possibility of life on planet Mars. Mars ‘atmosphere is about 100 times less dense as compared to Earths [Tim Sharp, August 3, 2012]. Its composition according to NASA is as shown on the pie chart below. NASA in their search for life on planet Mars have also found out that briny liquid water exists on the surface, besides the underground water. In addition, there is also high humidity in the atmosphere as discussed earlier (Jia &Davies, 2002) and since there exist organisms on Earth that can survive by taking water from humidity in the air, then such organisms can adapt to the conditions in Mars.
