New users can quickly learn how to use a GUI faster compared to the command line, which requires a high level of memorization by the users to be able to use it. The GUI is a user-friendly interface as it offers a lot of access to software features, operating system, and files. In comparison to a command line, it is user-friendly especially for the new user trying to use Linux system. The GUI users can be able to multitask through the Linux platform such as viewing, manipulating and controlling various programs and folders at the same time, unlike the command line, which is difficult to multitask through applications on one screen ("Advanced gawk," 2015). Through the help of programming software, it has become more comfortable for the Graphic User Interface users to write scripts before knowing all the commands and syntax, unlike the textual interface that requires users to understand all the commands and language before they can write any text.

It is user-friendly and requires minimal system resources. Over time it has advanced its features, and it can now allow the users to configure the environment in which they are comfortable using. In GNOME, users can open programs by pressing the Activities key found on the left side of the panel. This property directs the user to the option of program launcher that also appears on the left side of the desktop, and the user can then look for the Application option that is available at the left part. The environment also has three buttons where the user can exit, minimize and maximize the windows.
