Native American and European Art
Document Type:Coursework
Subject Area:Arts
Native American Art was a representation of their culture, and spiritual beliefs as the American inhabitants came to discover. Original forms of Native American art were work of individual artists and were as a result of a vision quest. Vision quest, to an Indian, is a mysterious place where the soul leaves the body and does many activities that are strange. The designs and creatures one encounters during a vision quest are regarded as spirit beings. They are then developed in artistic ways. Art is not made as a way to create wealth but as a way to worship the gods. The spiritual beliefs of the Indians are that every object whether living or non-living shares a place on earth. The land is innate, and its representation in Indian art is the beauty.
