Some of these discoveries have been a breakthrough in understanding the spread of humanity around the globe. Another method that we can use to determine the original Native Americans is through the study of their language and how it has evolved throughout the years. It is true that languages are in a constant state of flux, therefore, we do not expect the people from the past millennium to speak the same way the 21st-century people do. According to studies, during the Anglo-Saxon Invasion, Proto-Germanic language has experienced a sound change to the old English. An example of change is the word skurtjōn which transformed to “scyrte” in the old English. The same word later underwent sound to what is now called “shirt”. By looking at interlanguage, where to languages are found to be containing features that are common, we can able to determine any interlanguage transfer either positive or negative transfers. Though a person’s language, one can be able to determine personal characteristics, sociological factors, and linguistic style. Language can also reveal the social characteristics of a person.
