The teenager normally encounters pressure from the friend those who perceive them in a certain way whereby it may affect the meals they consume. It is of the essence for a teenager to start making their own food choice so that they can have a well-balanced diet for one to achieve the good health as they come of adult age. According to Ozer, the author argues that good food can affect the growth and development of a teenager during adolescent thus causing disease in day to come (n. p). Thee nutrient requirement in the body of a teenager depends with gender, activity level and age of the teenager, therefore, it is important that teenager's meals have enough vitamins, calories, protein, and minerals.

Youngster those between the age of 10 to 18 should take 1350 milligrams of minerals especially calcium per day, whereby it is only 205 of the teenager girls that meet this requirement. Iron helps in muscle growth and menstruation for the young girls (Stanley, 43). Therefore, for teenagers to prevent the deficiency of minerals and vitamins they should focus on consuming vegetables and fruits. Junk food for Teenagers Many of the snacks that teen consume are rich in high calories. It is good to take a snack before or after the meal but it should be done with a lot of care so as to avoid the high rates of calories that may accumulate into their body thus altering they their physique development.
