Pauls Conversion Essay

Immediately after this, Paul became blind and it was after Ananias told him that he was chosen by God to become a witness and spread the Holy word that Paul regained sight, was baptized and filled with the Holy Spirit. Most of the biblical scholars regard all that happened to Paul on his way to Damascus as a call instead of a conversion. They stress that Paul was called to be an apostle and preach to the Gentiles but was not converted. The scholars further argue that calling this a conversion would be wrong since Paul did not change his religion (Twelftree, 197). I believe that the radical changes that occurred in Paul's relationship with Jesus resulted in the transformation of his entire life and this warrants whatever happened to be termed as a ‘conversion'.
