POPULATION PYRAMIDS

Several factors which affect population of a given country include and not limited to economic stability, access to health care facilities, natural calamities and nutrition among others. In this paper, several countries which include United Kingdom, Ethiopia and Indonesia will get analyzed for better understanding on population pyramids. Analysis Ethiopia ("International Programs - Region Summary - U. S. Census Bureau," 2017) Ethiopia is featured as one of the countries in the sub-Saharan Africa. According to the WHO ("WHO | Ethiopia," 2018), the health care system in Ethiopia is very poor. The same report states that there is a very high prevalence of diseases like malaria, HIV and tuberculosis among others. The diseases have contributed to the low life expectancy among the adults since most of them die in their early productive age.

With the low development in the country, ("Ethiopia - Healthcare | export. gov," 2017) it is very hard for the government to support its growing population with clean water, food stability, quality health care facilities and services which translates to high death rate. ) and it is clearly reflected in the pyramid on the reproductive age. There is a high consumption of contraceptives among the reproductive age with 61% ("Indonesia PEOPLE 2018, CIA World Fact book," 2018. ) The use of contraceptives lead to low birth rate a factor which has led to a population decline. The higher number of female between 60 and early 70s could be as a result of the world war period. In the contrary, the end of World War II was followed by the baby boom which is clearly visible in the population between the ages 50 to 64 years old.

The life expectancy of the female population is higher than the men. There are more women reaching 95 years than men. Some factors which could have contributed to this difference are the First and the Second World War where men were used as soldiers and most of them lost their lives. It is also evident in the decline of the number of men in the ages 80 and above. Pyramid Comparison Ethiopia is a country in the sub-Saharan Africa. It becomes very hard to support families and make their lives better for a higher life expectancy. On the other hand, there are more people in the productive age in United Kingdom than in Indonesia. This means United Kingdom is more developed and has higher life expectancy than Indonesia.
