King was with his friends Bryant Allen and Freddie Helms in his car during the incident. The friends followed the police instructions but King didn’t which led to the use of brutal force so as to contain Rodney. The police in command involved in the incident was Stacey Koon who did not urge her officers to reduce brute force. Rodney had reached speeds of 50-80mph in the residential streets and he did not want to follow police commands. On being cornered, King tried to reach for an instrument which the police thought was a firearm. It would be better off if they carried him to a safe place rather than dragging him on the road. Racial discrimination is depicted in the scenario whereby the police in the incident had no compassion for the offender although he had committed a crime.
