Document Type:Coursework
Subject Area:History
During Antebellum period Northerners felt that ending slave trade would be a big blow to their economy (Herbst, 266). This is because north benefitted directly from raw materials from the south farms for their industries. For instance, the south was a rich source of cotton which was in high demand from textile industries in the north. They felt that ending slave trade would affect many people who depended on it either directly or indirectly for their survival. Publication of Uncle Tom's Cabin This publication is believed to have contributed to this perception of the slave trade through causing the civil war. Therefore, it was Uncle Tom's cabin publication ideas that culminated in anti-slavery attitudes as well election of Clinton. Work Cited Herbst, Lawrence A.
