Discrimination is one of the leading aspects of social injustice witnessed more often in Canada and in the world today. In all the nations in the world, there is most likely at least one form of discrimination that affects different people in the community. Discrimination is defined as the denial of chance or equal rights for a particular group of individuals that may differ regarding their religion, race, ethnicity or gender. The world has been struggling with this aspect for a long time. A stereotype which leads to discrimination refers to images held in individual's mind that regards to a particular racial or ethnic group, without the consideration of whether the pictures are true or false. In more than 50 countries discriminatory laws on citizenship existed where womenfolk in 48 states can't spread their nationality on an equivalent foundation with their masculine complements, nor can mums in 18 states permit on nationality to their families innate in the country on parity with wedded predecessors.

The limitations lead to incomplete admittance to occupations and limited liberty of association, public health care and limited access to jobs. Discrimination concerning gender identity and sexual orientation is also predominantly extensive. The global lesbian, gay, bisexual and intersex overtone provides a least of 75 states that have illegitimate rules that go in contradiction of exciting activities of lesbian and gay persons and eight nations that impose the death consequence for such actions (Ellis, 2002). Furthermore, 60 percent of countries in the world exhibited laws that presented obstacles for individuals with HIV/AIDS from getting effective prevention, treatment, care and support. This may have long-term implications on the worldwide economy. The tenacious disclosure to discernment may lead to individual's internalization of the stigma directed to them.
