The most common causes of academic stress include workload, personality characteristics, academic achievements, psychosocial issues, expectations and pressure from parents to perform, as well as lack of physical exercises to name just a few. The measurement of academic stress among university students necessitated the use of the Perception of Academic Stress Scale (PAS) (Bedewy & Gabriel, 2015). Notably, the authors have utilized both qualitative and quantitative methodologies in their study. The predominant research methodology is quantitative because the academic expectations subscale had four items, the student’s academic self-perception subscale had six items, and workload and examinations subscale had eight items. In total, the eighteen items were linked to an 18-item 5 point Likert type questionnaire, which is an instrument for quantitative research. The authors have also addressed concerns for dependability.
