Visual analysis and description of Club night by George Bellows
Document Type:Coursework
Subject Area:Arts
The principles of design are imperative when giving a description of an artist’s work of art. The principles include balance, emphasis, movement, pattern, repetition, proportion, rhythm and unity. All these elements are important in having a visual analysis as well as description to a work of art. Balance is very important as it shows the distribution of artistic components such as color and texture as well as scale, to make a piece of art ideal. Emphasis is created by contrast and color. Club night,1907, by George Bellows is a piece of art which employs the use of curvaceous shape, a color that is naturalistic, with contrast that is dramatic and line that is flowing and bold to show movement in combat.
