There has been an increase emphasis on voter documentation and registration requirements that has caused debate about the equality of power amid states and the federal government. One of the limits that the U. S. constitution places on the state’s power to establish voter qualifications is the Election clause, which gives the states the power to control the “times Places and Manner” of federal votes, then he continues and says that the “congress can at any time by laws make or alter such conventions”( Harvard Law Review p. What this is saying is that basically the federal government and change any of the regulations the states make if the congress finds them to discourage and or make it harder for voters to vote.

Occurrences where there is inappropriate voting is during appropriateness and registration, where voters fill out these forms wrongly or registering people with serious crime conviction and neither of these concerns will be prohibited by a nation photo ID necessity. Voter ID can only avoid fabricated registrations or voting more than once by voters who are registered in different states plus voting by non-citizen. However, this act render legal votes illegal. The major problem of elections is votes buying, ballot-box stuffing; absentee ballots and the people who were convicted of crimes appearing in polling stations to vote. The implementation of elector ID laws, voters start to see that they are been discriminated. whereas only 24% disagree, and 72% of defendants trust that a photo ID necessity before polling do not end in discrimination.

(“Voting Rights Enforcement”) There is a large number Americans citizen of all different backgrounds that sustain voter ID laws (“Not a Race Card”). Writing for the majority of the Seventh Circuit, Judge Posner highlighted that “it is extremely hard to move in today’s USA without an ID” also “the massive of grownups have such documentation. ” (“Constitutional Law”) Perhaps it is just using our mind, since we ought to use the ID to have alcohol or beer, use of a cheque, boarding a flight, buying a ticket train, in a restaurant, and even when obtaining a library card. The adversaries of voter ID usually relies on two opinions you will see this, once you get past the race-card issue, namely. In 2011, approximately over 4,000 voted in the constitutional amendment election.

In 2013, an average of over 16,000 voted. Based on this information this shows that voter turnout has not been affect as much as people thought with these voter id laws, but in my opinion I believe that the voter ID laws won’t stop people from voting especially those who are already registered to vote, but I do believe these laws could discourage people from voting but just through who haven’t registered because first they have to go through the hassle of registering to vote then on top of that they have to make sure they have a valid photo ID to even show up to the polling sites. Texas is trying to get people to register to vote and be more active in politics but I don’t think this is a way to do it it’s going to turn people away.

It may have not been shown in the governor election but during the presidential election in 2016 I predict that the voter turnout will be lower than it was back in the election in 2012. What could have been done differently is that I could had surveyed more students making the sample size bigger and the results more significant and the margin of error smaller. There were many weaknesses to this poll and the biggest one would be the sample size of course because when only 15 people are surveyed out of 20,000 students not much can be concluded from it. Another would be the question one of the problems I came I across was that some people didn’t understand the question I was asking and it took them a while to answer meaning they didn’t have any information on the subject making their answer probably different than what it would be if they has actually understood the laws and the regulations.

To produce more accurate results in this poll I probably would provide people with a page or two information on the subject I am questioning them about along with asking a larger number of people. Myths about Voter Fraud We require state voter ID rules to avoid fraud. The restrictions of photo ID by state disproportionately affect affects Americans, Latinos, young voters, people over 65 and people with disabilities. Advancement Project studies show that 11 percent of eligible voters, or about 21 million people, don't have updated, state-issued photo IDs: 25 percent of African Americans, 15 percent of those earning less than $35,000, 18 percent of citizens age 65 or older and 20 percent of voters age 18 to 29. In 2008 the rates of voter registration and turnout rates among the young and the minority affected federal races across the nation where about two-thirds of new voters registered as Democrats in the 29 states that record party affiliation.

The 2010 midterms put more conservatives in office who want to combat this trend. The right-wing American Legislative Exchange Council, for example, drafted and promoted photo ID legislation that was introduced in more than 30 states. In Wisconsin, 25 percent of DMV offices are open one day a month or less, and fewer than half are open at least 20 hours a week. What can prospective voters who have to work or care for their children during these limited hours do but go without? Voting is a matter of individual preference. Participation protects our political system from corruption. Voter suppression in the United States has a long and sordid past and present. Voting lies at the heart of our national life, and efforts to restrict it to the right of people to corrode our freedom to vote.
