In any society, it is the smallest and most basic social unit, making it the most essential primary group of persons. A family is defined as a group of two or more individuals who live together and are connected by birth, marriage, or adoption. As a result, persons who are linked are termed family members. A fantastic example is an elderly couple that must share a home with their daughter, her husband, and her two children. In addition, the elderly couple's nephew was forced to live with them. Because these couples are unable to conceive or bear children, they must rely on children from previous heterosexual partnerships, adoption, sperm donation, or surrogacy to complete their families. A family needs love from the parents to nurture, grow and teach the children about the tradition and values placed on families by the community and society in general.
