As many economics states that the human factor is one of the greatest factors that affect the economic strength of any country, demographic deficient is directly affecting the economy of Canada. Therefore, there is a great urge for the country to revive its demographic deficit factors and save the country from the current and future economic problems. This paper will intensively look an ideal action plan for eliminating New Brunswick’s demographic deficit. Causes of the Canadian Demographic Deficit The population of Canada is shrinking at a terrific rate (Niosi 15). Unlike most countries in the world such as the United States, India, China, and England, there has been a worrying trend in which the population of the Canadians is declining. Most of them have migrated to the United States to look for better employment opportunities (Niosi 67).

Effects of Canadian Demographic Deficit As a result of a demographic deficit in Canada, there have increased rates of labor shortages in the country. The youths who are well skilled and strong have opted to migrate to other countries to look for greener pasture. This has greatly affected the labor market and as a result, the economy of Canada has grown at a very slow rate. After youths have gained all the necessary skills and experience, they get attracted to better working conditions and well-paying jobs in other countries. Evidence shows that most families fail to have large families because of the fair that the economic conditions in Canada will not favor them. They are afraid that the cost of raising children can be unbearable but with sound government strategies that provide free caring services to the families, this fear can be eliminated.

Formulation of favorable immigration rules and policies that encourages foreigners to come, invest and settle in Canada is another strategy that eliminates Canadian demographic deficit (Trovato, Frank, and Anatole Romaniuk 187). Unfavorable immigration policies in Canada have been discouraging potential investors to migrate and invest in the country. When more foreigners settle in a country, the population increases and this favors the country. Although it is impossible to retain all job seeker in the public sector, provision of low-interest rate loans to private investors can really promote entrepreneurship in the country. Instances of high rates of migration of Canadian job seekers to other countries can be reduced by such sound economic policies and actions. Elimination of racism elements in Canada can be another strategy to eliminate the demographic deficit in the country.

Racism is a vice that has been prevailing for quite some time in Canada. Dark-skinned people mostly with their roots in Africa and Latin America have been constantly discriminated by the Native Canadians based on their race. However, some of these cultural beliefs should be eliminated. In a nutshell, the human factor is an important aspect of every economy. A large population in an economy has countless advantages and when the population declines terribly, the economy might be affected negatively. New Brunswick has been greatly affected by the demographic deficit and this has called for proper action plan to be employed in eliminating this deficit. Encouraging families to get more children, formulating friendly immigration rules and policies, eliminating racism elements, encouraging polygamous and creation of more jobs are some of the most ideals steps that the Canadian government should take in ensuring the demographic deficit of the country is effectively eliminated.
