This paper will define global leadership behaviors, compare Confucian Asia culture to that of Saudi Arabia and explain the relationship between leadership style and employee behavior. Global Leadership Behaviors Charismatic/Value-Based leadership is a global leadership behavior that emphasizes the ability of the leader to motivate inspire and expect others to provide high-performance outcomes following the core values in place. This leadership behavior has 6 leadership dimensions namely; visionary, inspirational, integrity, performance-oriented, self-sacrifice, and decisive. Team-Oriented Leadership is a behavior that reflects on building effective teams and ensuring common goals and purpose are implemented among the team members. There are five leadership dimensions in this behavior namely; team integrator, malevolent, diplomatic administratively competent, and collaborative team. This is done by ensuring that there is face-saving and status enhancement.
There are five leadership dimensions in this behavior namely; conflict inducer, self-centered, face-saver, status-conscious, and procedural. Comparison between Confucian Asia (Japan) and Saudi Arabia Every day, some new social values and cultures are emerging within individuals and organizations. As an organization, understanding this is very important because new leadership behaviors emerge too this according to a study conducted by Basahel (2016). Gandolfi & Stones (2018), explains that managers in high power distance cultures like Saudi Arabia are expected to assume that employees dislike their work and for that reason, they prefer to adopt an authoritarian style of leadership.
On the other hand, managers in a low power distance culture assume that their employees like work and they are likely to adopt the decentralized as their leadership style. Individualism-The dimension focuses on the degree of interdependence that is maintained between the society and its members. They adopt a participative style of leadership where relationships that establish trust and friendships are emphasized. Uncertainty avoidance-The dimension expounds how society deals with the unknown future. Japan has a high score of 92 since it is one country that constantly faces disasters such as earthquakes and tsunamis among others. On the other hand, Saudi Arabia has a slightly lower score of 80. Both countries have a high preference when it comes to uncertainty avoidance this is stated in a research conducted by Saxena (2018).
In a study conducted by Alharbi et al (2016), cultural values have an impact on managerial and employee perception within the workplace and for that reason, the expectations of behaviors are expected to differ according to an individual. Decision making and problem-solving are differing with cultural differences of the people involved and it the obligation of the manager to ensure that every employee is listened to (Nanjundeswaraswamy, & Swamy, 2014) In an organization based in Saudi Arabia that has many cultural differences, the manager is supposed to seek the best ways of cooperation. This will help in reducing the probability of the company to operate outside their home culture (Iqbal, Anwar, & Haider, 2015). The organization needs to understand that the culture of the host nation is important since it is responsible for some of the environmental factors of a company.
