The externalities include the threat of the competitors, deteriorating the company’s image and the additional costs associating with the rectification of the scandal. A firm which wants to prosper should observe the required ethics and have good relations with the subscribers. On the issue of the scandal, Zuckerberg responded immediately when it was brought on the table. His management team first assessed the claim so as to know its roots. This helped the firm to understand the scope of the situation and prepare fully to address the issue to the public. After gathering the information, it responded to the public and also the US government in a best way. It first explained that the incidence was a leakage of the information but it was not a break as it was stated by the disclaimer (Wittel, 2011).

Through address to the government, society and customers, Facebook would therefore have the possibility of having their reputation back and stand in the same market position as it was before the scandal. SWOT analysis Facebook for its survival has to analyze the market it is operating in. it should access its strengths and compare with the strengths of the competitors (Raynes, 2010). On comparing different strengths, it can therefore make the changes as per the market requirements. The strengths of the firm as per the Case study are that it has many subscribers in the World and many people can interact through the platform within a short time. has been in the frontline to observe the legal concerns on all the countries or the societies they operate in.

They do this through proper SWOT analysis whereby they take into account any legal concern and work towards its preservation. This helps the firm to minimize the scandals and conflicts within the markets. The management also ensures that it has the full information of the market and the society so that it observes the required ethics. This helps in creating the good customer relations and general society acceptance. The response rate observed from the firm is when the scandal was brought in the table is a live example of a good leadership and how they should play their role.
