Hidden religious meanings in His Dark Materials

I will discuss and analyse these ideas which are overt and covered throughout his three literary works, “the northern lights, The Subtle Knife and The Amber Spyglass. ” I chose this topic because I like to discover hidden meanings in the novels and the ideas which explain more about the author’s point of view especially in the religious term. Context for Research This is what I will do on my research, I will look at the new ideas in the book that the author explained, for example, the relation between the humans and their demons and what are the relations to religion behind these symbols. This may not be noticed by usual readers with an exception to those readers who have matured in thinking critically or those children who are aware of it (Peter 29).

In addition, the relationship between these symbols and religion are not expressed clearly. Nevertheless, I will do some close readings from the books and search for more ideas that the author expresses throughout the text and the dialogues. In my dissertation one of the sources that I will use is the Holy Bible to know what is said about the first sin, the fall of Adam and Eve and about demons to use it as a reflection to my research. I will analyse the character Lyra and compare her to Eve as it is mentioned in the end of the first book that she is the second eve and will explain the relation between her and Eve from the Christian point of view.

Also, I will slightly write about the Christian ideology and compare it with the author’s ideological and religious believes that shown in the book as well I will explore the religious themes in the story and how it affects the author’s ideas by representing his ideological believes throughout symbols, characters and events. It will also help me examine the underlying truths relating to the existence of God and whether indeed God can die as depicted in the essays. I will use the theories of feminism to examine the roles of the gender and how the author believes that these roles should be allocated to people of different genders and sexes. I will use this theory and to compare it with the religious ideologies that I will use which in the same time will show the author’s intentions and believes.

For instance, in Islam women and men are totally equal and I will support my ideas from some Islamic books. In the same time the theory will also help me to analyse the various stereotypes in the books and how they compare to the real-life settings. Ethics and its relation to science is another factor that I will write about in my research. The research will analyse the multiverse by drawing relevant similarities and differences to the Shamanism beliefs. The research will also provide recommendations on how to look behind the actual meanings ib the books and deduce a thoughtful conclusion. Methodology My research will be on a text-based study as I will research. This is because textual research is used in exploring historical materials as well as literature.

In carrying out my research, I will look at some religious books to explore more about the religious meanings in the story whereas covert or overt in the works of Pullman. There is also the “Dust” and also the ethics of the scientists which are very useful as well. In addition, there is not much research carried out on the literary works of Pullman by comparing it to other religious beliefs and therefore it would be necessary to carry out research in this book. The idea of the existence of multiverse as discussed in the literary works of Pullman is also of great interest and the idea is not clear. The research on multiverse will not only be a contribution to the literature but also to the scientist’s work.

In conclusion, all these matters are very important and require a thorough research which cannot be ignored and therefore set the basis for me to carry out the research.  The Hidden Teacher: Ideology and Children's Reading. Pullman exemplifies Mary Malone and John Keats who utilized the alethiometer in the process extracting genuine answers of sub standardized Lyra world. Lyra is depicted from the context that she was the only child who was able to read and interpret alethiometer very well without messing. Hence it is quite clear that not only the scientific and religious aspects of a shamanistic character. Kleczkowska, Katarzyna. Mary does research basically from the dark matter, however; she is in concern with Ching and later falls into the shamanistic trance. The methodology she incorporates developed a negative impact through the process of categorizing both the evil and the good which later made her learn the value of free scientific investigation towards its possibility. The undoubted device "The subtle knife" invented by Cittagazzes scholars, which is explained by the second paradise in the second trilogy to know the benefit of enquiring the general nature of things.

One of the fine moments of Dark Materials background destines new ideas of the universe. Routledge, 2018. "Adversaries and influences" by Rachael Falconers focus of the intertextuality of the generalized Pullman's work. This essay discusses the Dark materials following its high significance in the changeover texts which incarnates revision of secular spiritual and intellectual matters. Pullman uses fantasy and the reality of things to present parallelism regarding the child and the adult dichotomy. It is generally demonstrated in this book. Children Literature: the development of criticism is genuinely substantial regarding the view of Gilead on closure of children fantasy and fractal geography is quite evident that cultural boundaries and cross disciplinary within children should be installed in order to boost their credibility.
