There is even talk of a chip which will ensure that no one forgets to take his or her medicine every again. The history of AI is long and complicated but the future looks more and more promising. Issues with AI will include social issues like reduced human-human-interaction, and real-life challenges like the loss of jobs in whole sectors. The paper covers the history of AI and the effects it is expected to have on the human population as whole into the future. II. It was not long before the Department of Defense took over research and became the primary consumer of AI technology. It is the military’s intervention which changed the trajectory of AI research and made many research studies possible. However, there was a slight hick up in 1974 when the US government suspended its funding for AI because of criticism that it was not a productive use of tax payer dollars.

That said, advances continued apace in the private sector and the government had no choice but to step back in and become a key player (Zakardakis, 2017). In the recent past, the world has seen machines capable of learning and others with the capacity to create nebulous thoughts. For example, programmers get bogged down in the coding and have little time to focus on the whole industry in general. In such a case, a machine that can learn to code releases the programmer to contemplate truly existential questions. In the end, it is the human race which benefits from the AI. Negative One of the most spoken about fears regarding AI is that it will lead to the loss of jobs and that is definitely true. Already, there are millions around the world who have lost their places in factories, farms, and offices.

How AI Affects Human Interaction Positive On the positive side, AI provides excellent opportunities for research which can be applied to human mental health. One of the barriers to effective research is that researchers have to conform to ethical standards. That means that they, rightly, do not have the space to conduct potentially harmful experiments on humans. However, AI research provides a deeper understanding of how the brain works. AI components which can learn can also be used on mental health research. For many, it will be more convenient than the lottery of making friends with humans. AI units are likely to be more reliable and less likely to have the capacity to hide ulterior motives. The fear is that in the end people will prefer AI units and human interaction will be reduced to a minimum.

V. Interactions with Other Fields All sectors of the economy will be affected by AI but two stand out: defense and healthcare. Already, there is a firm testing a chip which will be filled with medicine and programmed to release it into the body at specific times. In these and other ways, AI will make medicine safer and more efficient. VI. Resources Chelliah, J.
