3) Pre-schoolers prefer real activities to fantasy ones. This is because they like to keep it real rather than pretend to be other persons they are not. The assumption that children prefer mimicking adults as they are playing does not hold any strength. INTRODUCTION A pre-schooler as a child who is being offered early childhood teachings and learnings and are usually between age three to five. (Carlson, S. (Lillard, Angeline S. , Ashley M. Pinkham, and Eric Smith). However, when it comes to playtime, many pre-schoolers prefer real activities over the fantasy ones. Parents take their young children to a lot of fantasy and play worlds each day with toys being the main tools for pretend activities. (Goldstein, J. This is because they like to keep it real rather than pretend to be other persons they are not.

The assumption that children prefer mimicking adults as they are playing does not hold any strength. (Mottweiler, C. M. Various camera videos and photographs were played and photographs displayed on the screen for all to see. The videos and photographs showed various activities, and they pretend versions and the children were asked to choose what they preferred. Those who chose a particular category were counted by a show of hands, and the total number was tallied. For example, those pre-schoolers who preferred the real activity of washing dishes as displayed on the photograph were counted and total number tallied. Those who chose the pretend version of washing dishes were also counted, and the results were also tabulated. The pretend versions of all the seven activities were also used to assess the children.

A total of 64 out 97 children preferred real activity of washing dishes to the pretend one. Baking of bread, nursing a baby, cooking food and fairy tale activities had majority of children preferring the real version with figures of 50, 50, 62, and 60 respectively out of the total 97 children that were assessed. The pretend versions of talking on telephone and cutting of vegetables however had majority of pre-schoolers preferring pretend over real activity, 51 and 57 respectively out of possible 97. The mean for this exercise (those who preferred real activities to pretend ones was found to be 53. They, for example, feed a baby and feel the joy of being responsible. Furthermore, they will get credit from their parents. DISCUSSION Strengths and limitations This research found childhood fantasy play which revolves around invented characters and set-up without any linkage to the kids.

Since the age, the kids can at-least start talking. Little ones look for opportunities which can help parents with real and practical tasks hence learning to be of help preferably. Normal house running becomes distorted. Therefore actual activities are not the best for kindergarten kids. The activities these kids engage in are closer to the type of play in early human groups. Allowing the little kids access household implements while playing with them at work usually attracts little or no alarm to parents in the western part. Many of these grown people usually assume that younger kids need to be protected from the kids' themselves. Opportunities are created for pre-schoolers who do actual activities. For instance, a child who has learned to bake can readily get employed in a bakery in their future life.

This ensures that such a family earns income. It also means there is nothing like hunger in such a family! Again a pre-schooler who does an actual activity of playing football or tennis or basketball stands at a greater chance of being a great team player. This also means they will keep fit and thus avoid diseases such as heart diseases. For example, a curious child may decide to walk into a forest as an adventure and in the process gets lost. The kid brings worry in their parents. Again such kids are likely to get themselves dirty. This may be annoying to their parents. Some parents decide to deny their kids a chance to engage in actual activities and ruined relationships between parents and children occur.

They appreciate the need for good communication. Again teamwork will only be enhanced if children engage in actual activities than pretend ones. They will play football and want to score a goal for the sake of their team. This only improves team work. And as they grow in life, the virtue of team work shall never be taken for granted. Any parent will support a child who is confident. Such learners can explore different life ideas. They learn to know when a person gets annoyed and thus avoid such situations. Pre-schoolers live up to their role models. This ensures continuity in moral values of the society such as kindness, patience, and respect. "Pretend play and cognitive development.
