John is definitely passing through hell in an attempt to fully quit drinking that has become quite bothersome to him and his family in general. With this program, it is worth noting that John’s family is facing a lot of issues. One of the treatment issues that the family is currently facing is lack of communication. Communication of some of the basic things in any family that can be used to show and ensure that the family is growing to the accepted standards. Communication is a key method that can be used to solve problems, promote peace and wellness of the family and also help one another in times of crisis. Furthermore, another method that can also work best in Smith’s family is teaching the family on the basis and the importance of communication in the family.

Communication is an inherent thing in any family that can help in promoting and developing a well-structured family that will walk together towards success and towards dealing with some of the common problems which affect them. In Smith’s family, there is an unclear communication pathway between Margaret and John, Margaret and Tina and also between Tina and his brother Robert. All these bad relationships are what is steering the family towards leaving a good life devoid through which they can help one another to lead some good lives (Grand Canyon University, 2016). The family also needs to be working in unity. a) Social planning The major problem which is currently facing John, the father to the family is alcoholic addiction. He has been drinking alcohol ever since he was a young man and the same issue has currently become a major point of concern in the family.

The family is going through all of the problems as it is trying to cope up with various issues brought by alcohol. The social life of these people is in disarray and it needs to be planned to ensure that the family gets along together quite well and with ease. The social life of John should be curtailed to spending more time with the family members and this is to promote good relations and develop effective communication in the family. Developing a better approach towards communication is also another key native and goal that the family should develop (Tracy, 2016). d) Rituals and rules to try and abide by The rituals that the family should develop should be made in a way that it will allow for the positive growth for the family.
