The desire to provide an entity that provides structure to analyze and evaluate different happenings around the world that pose a substantive threat to the United States motivated the decision to set up the intelligence organization. The evolution of the agency since it was established in 1947 has been defined by past experiences where it has managed to gather and analyze different situations affecting the United States in the global geopolitics challenges. The increasing threats of terrorism after the September bombings and subsequent capture of Sadam Hussein and Osama Bin Laden define some of the significant inputs of the agency into attaining the country’s foreign policy mandate. The successful execution of different operations has been possible due to the role played by the Central Intelligence Agency in guiding the process based on their human intelligence gathering capacity.

The ability to develop a system outside the United States that involve covert operations and initiating a structure that allows them to put in place a strategic clandestine service demonstrates their ingenuity in intelligence gathering. d). The employees of the agency are better trained and evaluated on their background in ensuring that they tackle the challenge of intelligence leaks which might compromise the effectiveness of the agency. The dimensions of the CIA core ethos are to conduct themselves in a manner that enhances quality service, integrity, excellence, courage, teamwork, and stewardship. The quality of output of the agency is largely dependent on how they organize their strategic missions for purposes of providing decision-makers with decision advantage on matters that advance the interests of the American populace.

The agency was tasked with the roles of coordinating the nation’s intelligence activities through correlating, evaluating and disseminating intelligence regarded as essential to uphold national security. The structural organization of the Central Intelligence Agency determines the ability of the entity when it comes to creating a robust model of handling intelligence gathering and analysis to offer accurate and actionable information to policymakers. The Central Intelligence Agency has performed its duties diligently and most covert operations remain classified due to the nature of the information being gathered to ensure they defend the United States. For instance, the Central Intelligence Agency (2010) develops a world fact book that creates an elaborate database of different countries around the world to offer a preview of the characteristics and how such countries are government to better gather foreign intelligence.

The investment on intelligence gathering and analysis is very essential since it determines the stability of the United States of America as a superpower threatened with countless external enemies that might influence any efforts to orchestrate an attack. Horowitz & Haimes (2003), in their review of different terrorist attacks that continue to keep the intelligence community alert on a daily basis, sought to define a systems engineering approach that recognizes the need to integrate the collection of information for purposes of administering accuracy during clandestine activities. The management of national intelligence is based on the ability of the Central Intelligence Agency to organize their operations in a manner that allows them to offer guidance to the executive and military operations to combat and disrupt any dangers to the stability of the United States of America.

The Central Intelligence Agency functioning takes the form of an organization with different branches that focus on the need to enhance their ability when it comes to yielding significant gains in foreign intelligence gathering. The agency is headed by a Director together with an Executive Director and their deputies with a chief of staff forming the top level of the agency that is divided into four different divisions (Lowenthal, 2016). The different divisions in the organizational structure include the Directorate of Intelligence, Directorate of Clandestine Services, Directorate of Science and Technology and Directorate of Support each charged with several responsibilities for intelligence gathering. The divisions work hand in hand with different organizational structures to develop a pool of human resource expertise governing the execution of a system that makes it possible to facilitate better decision making among policy makers.

The efficiency of the agency in the modern age is challenged by difficulties of preventing leaks of intelligence gathered, undertaking domestic spying, and congressional oversight. Furthermore, other challenges include geospatial intelligence, open sources and equally the capacity to undertake a revamped signals intelligence as well as cyber collection. The evolution of society in the current times has defined a new dimension of key challenges that the agency must address to maintain their effectiveness across different fronts. The Central Intelligence Agency seeks to eliminate intelligence gaps through mechanisms that seek to enhance collection and analysis of foreign nations in bringing to the attention of the President and senior military security team for timely responses. The existence of unprecedented volume together with diverse worldwide development models that impact the United States national interest requires a structure with the ability to provide decision making advantage for policymakers.

Economic development depends on political stability that is assured by the good work of counterintelligence to defend the country from any form of destruction planned by the enemy forces (Ratcliffe, 2016). The gains attained by a stable government are immeasurable as it allows the people to experience a steady environment that makes it possible to achieve economic, political and social progress where freedom and security are guaranteed. Implications of the Structural Organization of the CIA The implications of the articulate organizational framework of the Central Intelligence Agency have involved a series of gains for the American people. The benefit of the agency has often been the attainment of progressive intelligence gathering and analysis that has enabled the United States to make better decisions in their policy formulation.

The organization of the intelligence in the United States has made it possible for the agency to perfect their operations in the different divisions that execute different tasks (Chen, Wang, & Zeng, 2004). The quality of life and development realized by the United States rests on the effort put in place by the intelligence agency when it comes to obtaining critical information that defines the next course of action involving different scenarios. The different divisions within the agency have special skills, training, and equipment to undertake the role of ensuring they create adequate synergy and teamwork in delivering the best for the American people. The prosperity of the country lies on how they manage their national intelligence service through time to time innovation in an effort to be relevant and build capacity in handling the new dimensions of foreign intelligence.
