This was an example about what happens when an advertisement went right.  Where the hype for the new campaign was worth the risk and the payoff was for scene. However, many times there are ideas and plans that in theory, should be great ideas, but turned out to be unfortunate disasters.  These disasters are the ones that are remembered the most, because they were over advertised, and highly publicized. One particular project that failed quite royally was the future skyscraper in London called the Green Bird. I say this because it would be hard to imagine one of the hotel rooms at the very top of the building. I wonder how the architects would have had to set up the rooms to fit with the shape of the building while keeping everything in the rooms’ straights.

This might have been another reason why the plan for the building fell through. The Green Bird was no ordinary skyscraper, it was to be one of the biggest building in the London. The building was supposed to be a bird, but end up of the creation sausage building. Addition, the Green Bird building was curve so it can withstand the wind blowing the through the building. Equally important, they did not mention wings that was should be on the building. Likewise, they probably theories that the wings would have impact the wind blew through the building. Although the building was going to have unique characteristics inside and out, there was something else about this project that was so important. We are talking about energy.

This is something that had not been done before and if it has, it has never been acknowledged. Especially in a building that is close to the size of what Green Bird was supposed to be. It is a shame that this project was never brought to life because it would have been a monumental step for new buildings everywhere to become more energy efficient. Google glasses are computer like lenses that are wearable over your eyes as glasses. On one side corner of the glasses is a device like that can connect you to internet access, able to make calls, and to receive other incoming emails. In making the product expand more behind the close doors of Google, Google glass was not ready to be introduced and ended up doing so in April 2012.

The product had many unfinished visions. Using the buyers of the product to be a part of the experience in giving feedback what to improve more to the product, Google used the people as a stepping unit in improving the next big product of improving Google glass. “Google Glass was described as “the worst product of all time”, “plagued by bugs”, “of questionable use” and “overpriced” and with an abysmal battery life” (Eborn, Andrew, 2017). In doing this attempt of sharing their product of Google glass, Google was going to keep paying the next consumer if improved. Having these glasses appear on a run way trying to build popularity too hard was not swaying the buyers to buy but to wonder of safety precautions.

Any glass near the eye is an eye opener in itself. This was a moment for “what ifs” to injuries. When Google glass came out in 2012, the concept of the wearable technology over your eyes was not much so accepting to the public, but much in the eyes of companies who would more likely get their hands on the item for better growth of their company. Tim Cook the CEO of Apple knew that the wearable glasses was not going to grow from the beginning. The San Diego Zoo back in 2015 broke ground for their new exhibit called Africa Rocks.  It was scheduled to open with 6 new enclosures, along with 2 100ft waterfalls, a new amphitheater, and a botanical garden on the first of May, 2017.

The Marketing team and Upper Management put in many hours and lots of money in to the original date of the opening. Unfortunately due to permit restrictions and several delays, the new exhibit was only able to open one enclosure at a time starting in July of 2017. With the first enclosure being the African Penguins. “Come see our Penguins” as well as “ See our new African Leopards”. Problem was that come June 2017.  The only enclosure that had been finished was the Penguins exhibit. Buckminster Fuller, the person behind the idea of the Manhattan Dome, was a well-known inventor and visionary for the 20th century who dedicated a majority of his life to finding out ways to make the world “work” in the best way possible (About Fuller, 1970).

Fuller was the kind of guy that had a lot of good potential in many different areas and because of this, he never limited himself to working in just one “field” when it came to his projects and ideas. The purpose of the dome was to regulate the weather and reduce the pollution in the air in the city of Manhattan (Carlson, 2012).  One of the main reasons for the dome was to reduce the costs of electricity. Inside the dome, they wanted to keep it at one average temperature throughout the entire dome. This would eliminate the need for individual buildings inside the dome to heat or cool down buildings separately (Carlson, 2012). By doing this, the costs of energy would have significantly decreased.

The number one reason for the stop to the project was because Fuller and Sadao were unable to find the material they needed. They needed a material that was not only durable enough for all the seasons but was able to keep the inside of the dome a steady temperature. When it comes to the temperature inside the dome, it was never mentioned in the articles how the temperature would be controlled or what the “ideal” temperature would be. If for some reason the temperature needed to be changed, would it be changed by the click of a remote or was there a process? Although, Fuller had ideas on how to make up for the costs of building the dome, I don’t think it talked about who was going to be paying for the dome to dome to be built in the first place.

It is unrealistic that the city would spend all the money to build something that they didn’t even know would work or be successful in any way. For instance, the plan of Green bird skyscrapers did not state the sources funding for actualizing the plan. Although every step in plan and archetechurial design was perfectly done, lack of funding. In addition, for most plan the purpose of the project was not clearly stated and its viability studied. A lot of time was spent in the planning of the projects ignoring the implementation bit which is most important. In this sense Engineers and architectures spent a lot of many and time planning for the project some of which had no defined funders.

The Google glass, although it has capabilities of recording and taking photo easily, it can also easily betray one due to the light that it produces during recording or photo shooting. It also emits radiation closely to the head and this can harm a person quickly due to the closeness with the radiation. Just to mention but a few. The model of this paper is limited to sustaining innovation and ideation in the real world to a quality outstanding result as it is put and anticipated by the designers. The model importantly applies in all the areas of innovation starting from business to engineering and thus according to it is important to keenly analyze the idea to avoid coming up with a rogue and shameful result.
