Over 100,000 homes and 10,000 properties required were in worse states that required either rebuilding or repair. A lot of money was allocated to this task. Almost 9. 4 billion dollars was set aside by the Earthquake Commission (EQC) to cater for construction costs following Earthquakes of the year 2010 to 2011. As a way of solving out this problem, Jack established TAKEHE Homes primarily for repairing houses. They are starting up at the time when many players are in the field. He therefore starts up on small scale of home repair. After successfully getting engaged in this field, she then ventures into construction of new houses. Probably this is a strategy for continuous growth in this industry. TAKEHE Homes might have had insufficient capital at the start to undertake demanding problem like those of construction of new houses.

He is against adopting any new advancement in technology. The world of technology is changing progressively. Only those who move with this pace will likely to succeed. 2 Organizational Ethics Any business has to operate which particular standards and principles. It has to demonstrate this through compassion, integrity, responsibility, fairness and honesty. A company that operates within a community should be concerned with the well-being of the society. This includes safety and environmental concerns. The goal of maximizing profits should not be prioritized at the expense of safety and quality to the clients. In the case study, it is revealed that TAKEHE Homes has disregarded safety. Its staff works without consideration to safety measures. Manager has got a responsibility in promoting team engagement.

In TAKEHE Homes, workers are not engaged in the decision making process despite the fact that the decisions made affect them. Jack makes most of the decisions without consultations. Most suggestions have been done at their early stage. Jack who is doubling up as both a supervisor and an administrator dismisses any suggestions on the ground that they are both expensive and are risky. In addition to this, jack is contended with how he hires employees maybe because it is less hierarchical hence fast. 5 Communication Styles Every employer or manager has got his own way of communication. It is important to note that any style of communication has got its own weakness and strength. Thus no style of communication is inherently better or superior to another.

However picking up a wrong style and applying it on a particular audience can shut down listening and initiate trouble. The manager passes information directly to the workers who are below the hierarchy. It streams downward without any interception of secretaries or supervisors. No inter-communication is carried out in this Company. There are no meetings for discussions and sharing. 6 Decision making styles In order for a Company to run smoothly, decisions must be made frequently. Consequently they have trouble in accepting this decision. Some becomes demotivated like in the case of David who is disappointed after his proposal for the new technology is rejected. Another drawback of this style is that it results in unrealistic goals since it is not refined or moderated by the members.

There are attempts of Bottom-up Decision-Making by some workers. Some multiple levels have initiated efforts to make decision. Only Jack can supervise them. Supervisors are reported to bully junior members instead of coordinating them. In fact they lack management skills. They oppose efforts that could aide customer satisfaction. Clients have also complained of their poor relation. Even those who are in the position of management like David are also motivated. This theory is therefore important in motivating them. The Respect model is important to restore broken relationship between the supervisors and the junior workers (Marciano, 2018). It seems that the supervisors disrespect their juniors by bullying them. This model will help to calm the tension that exists between the two. Leadership and Culture Leadership is important part in any organization.

It draws plan for all other components in a company or an organization to follow. In fact it is the part that ensures that all objectives are followed and controls the rest. if there is successful leadership in a company, there will be tremendous growth. 1 Participative leadership Participatory leadership is where the employees are involved in the process of decision making (Chron, 2018). The structure may be a board of management or the directors who act on the behalf of the shareholders. The TAKEHE Company is in desperate need of this structure. Since it is undertaking dig projects, it is necessary to have a lot of consultation and discussion before any decision is arrived at. Besides this, the construction industry is shifting into technology and more players are now in the field to compete for the few opportunities that are available.

Jack is probably overlooking this aspect. However there are weaknesses of this type of leadership. It hinders creativity out of the box. The nature of the work tends to be highly structured and very rigid. 4 Transformational Leadership St. Thomas University describes transformational leadership to be that which inspires people until they achieve results which are unexpected (St. The leadership style used is Top-Down structure and mostly dependent on the Jack. This kind of leadership has led to a dependent culture that is influenced by Jack. The weakness of this model of leadership is that there is little innovation and extra input from the workers. it can be improved through adopting transactional style of leadership. Then the implementer should have a vision for making change. The vision is made known to all people who will be affected by this change. People should then be informed the importance of change so as to remove obstacles and resistance that may come along the way followed by creating short term wins.
