With the 5 % significant level, it can be concluded that there is no gender bias in the promotion as per the evidence. What reasons should the assistant chief convey to the fire chief to justify the absence of gender bias in the most recent class of firefighters who were promoted? According to the data provided a total of 22 females out of 50 firefighters were promoted, which translates to 44 percent of the females, indicating there were gender balancing the promotion. The chief assistant could argue that the high number of female promotions is an attempt to increase the number of females in a department which is traditionally male dominated.
