However, negative emotions are more repulsive and can be detrimental to an individual’s health. Therefore, in the analysis of behaviors, the emotions of people may also contribute significantly to how people behave. When negative emotions are in control, the health and well-being of a person and those around him or her may also be affected. Behavior modification thus becomes an imperative concept that is bound to affect positive changes and consequently enable a person to change for the better. Anxiety influenced anger thus is associated with negative emotions, and in order to be modified, positive methods would have to be employed to achieve the desired outcome in behavior change. This paper thus will look into the behavior and establish how the behavior can be modified while analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of the modifications, Literature Review Several studies have primarily been conducted with the aim of establishing the link between anxiety and anger.

The scholars in the various disciplines thus provide an analysis of their findings and relevant discussions over how anxiety influenced anger may be modified for the benefit of the individual who is suffering from the behavior. Therefore, this study becomes essential in the determination of the best method for regulating emotions which will also be most effective in behavior modification in the long term; as the social functioning and reshaping outcomes are equally placed for consideration. However, in the treatment processes, the depression and the anxiety are usually looked into and rarely is the anger factor addressed. Therefore, this article seeks to explain how non-pharmacological approaches such as the cognitive behavioral therapy may be used to effectively handle cases of anger that emanate from anxiety in people suffering from depression.

This article hence provides a new approach for consideration with regard to behavior modification. Yamaguchi et al. (2015) is yet another study that looks into the effects of anger regulation and social anxiety o perceived stress. Further, the suppression of anger as a result of situations that are sensitive in nature or subject to the surroundings of the individual may result in the individual being anxious which may consequently result in the angry outbursts. This is aligned with the theory associated with behavior modification whereby, it is stipulated that the change of behavior is enhanced through the adoption of two methods either reinforcement of the behavior or through the consequences of the behavior. In essence, the theoretical approach to behavior modification can easily be applied to cases of anxiety influenced anger.

As such, the used approaches of consequences and reinforcement may be applied either negatively or positively to effect the desired changes. The positive use of the approaches of behavior modification is to encourage a particular aspect which is placed within the control of the individual. Reinforcement as an aspect of behavior modification is important as it is directed towards the achievement of positive behavior changes. Reinforcement ideally is a reward system form of behavior modification. It may be used both positively and negatively with respect to the nature of the behavior that is being rectified. As such, using positive reinforcement is primarily for the purpose of encouraging a particular behavior while negative reinforcement is aimed at ensuring that the behavior is condemned and thus should not be repeated.

In reinforcement also is the aspect of extinction. Summary Behavior modification is aimed at helping individuals rectify their behavior and thus be more appealing to their interactions as well as cater to the improvement of their health. Anxiety influenced anger is essentially a behavior that is triggered by emotions and therefore, it is possible to have it contained and reasonably modified to the advantage of the individual as well as his or her cognitive health. The methods of modification that are used are several, however; positive reinforcement stands out as the most effective in this case accompanied with cognitive behavior therapy to maximize on wholesome behavior modification. i) Strengths and Barriers to Behavior Change Behavior change is essentially a mental decision that a person has to make in order to achieve the desired outcome.

In this regard, there are several strengths associated with behavior change. The individual must have a positive attitude towards the exercise in its wholesomeness. Second, the application of the wrong behavior modification approach will considerably make the situation worse rather than effect the necessary changes. This is for example when negative approaches are used to try and curb negative emotions as in the case of anxiety influenced anger. The negative methods such as punishments will only serve to aggravate the situation further.
