Att and time warner merger
Document 1
To achieve mergers and acquisitions, some of the strategies pursued range from diversification, intensive as well as defense to integration strategies. In my estimation, AT&T strategically aimed at exploiting the Integration strategy in its decision to acquire that Time Warner Company. Specifically, AT&T aimed at backward integration strategy since Timer warner would play a major role as a content supplier for its wireless and internet market segment. According to Thomas Gryta et al, the wireless market was stalled. Therefore, the decision to acquire Time Warner Company would breathe a new life into the AT&T Company by pairing its subscribers in the wireless and pay-television segments to a rich media content supplied by Time Warner. However, in the case of AT&T, I believe that the acquisition will be a success rather than a failure.
