Comparison between Western and Eastern Europe

While some of the Western Europe countries include countries like: Belgium, Finland, Denmark, Germany, France, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, United Kingdom, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland. This paper will try to compare one state in Eastern Europe that is Hungary and one in the Western Europe that is France. Comparison between France and Hungary France is one of the countries in Western Europe and consist of metropolitan territory and group of overseas islands. The metropolitan part is usually referred to as “Hexagon” because it resembles the hexagon shape. Three sides out of its six sided hexagon are surrounded by water. Sometime after 600 B. C the traders from Greek and Phoenicia were operating along the coast of French Mediterranean as the Celts occupied the place named by Romans as Gaul, this is after they moved from the Rhine valley.

Then the Romans who were under the leadership of Julius Caesar conquered some Gaul region, which remained their part until its Empire broke into smaller settlements when they were invaded by Franks at around 5th Century A. D. At 8th Century under the leadership of Charlemagne who was a Frankish King the territories were consolidated back to form the Holy Roman Emperor. These ideas of revolution in France proved to have more influence in the world for nations that wanted to have such movements. However France later went back to dictatorial rule at around 19th Century under Napoleon Bonaparte which suffered a defeat at around 1815 when he tried to extend his rule to most of Europe region. At around 1870 when the France-Prussian war came to an end it also marked the end of Napoléon III rule and there was the birth of the third Republic which lasted until 1940 when France was defeated by Germany.

Throughout all these changes in political scenes France continued to be among the world powerhouses. France. In the 20th Century the monarchy between Austro and Hungary collapsed and the revolutionist communists held power for some few months and as a result of defeat in the World War I there was collapse of empires and establishment of independent new states. 4 Cultural Specifics When most people hear of France and its Culture they always associate it with its capital Paris which is the center of many things like Fashion, architecture and many others but life is always different in other parts of the region. The French Culture was greatly affected by the surrounding tribes like the Celtics, the German tribes the Franks and the others.

The official language in France is French and it’s the first language for a greater percentage of the population and it’s also ranked as the most popular and that widely studied as the foreign language across the globe. There are other languages which make minor percentage like the German, Arabic and Flemish Catalan, Breton and Occitan dialects. The teenagers in urban regions likes partying during their free time but this is different in rural areas which are quieter as compared to the urban regions. In Hungary lunch is always taken between 12 and 2 PM and it’s always the main meal while dinner is always a small meal. 8 In Western and Eastern region there is real cultural separation as there are different cultural practices in these regions.
