Armstrong also involved in the logging and ranching as their traditional economic activities. The city is located in the middle of dairy and farmlands of the valley of spallumcheen (the beautiful valley). This city was named after the E. C Heaton Armstrong a banker in London who aided in funding local developments at the turn of the century as well as the Shuswap and Okanagan Railway. Settlement in Armstrong was influenced by the immigrants of the Dutch settlement in the valley after the 2nd world war and it presented their cheese making knowledge which made Armstrong popular for production of cheese. Due to the availability of agricultural farming here the opening of grocery stores would be a good business idea for wholesale retail and also export.
