They viewed the murder as an extension of racism. His murder also lead to the creation of a foundation for racial healing known as James Byrd’s Foundation. Byrd’s murder to some extent, had impacts on the US politics too. Many advocacy groups were created including one that accused Bush of racism since he refused to take into account hate crime when he was Texas Governor and also the passing of James Byrd crime act by the 77th Texas legislature. The real extent and impact of the rampart scandal cannot be estimated since many misconducts such rape, robbery and forgery remains pending since they have not been solved.
