However Till never had the chance to meet him. He attended the all black McCosh Grammar School and was described as a child who was responsible and funny and at the age of five he became infected with polio which he later recovered fully. His mother having to work for very long hours, Till had to take most of the house responsibilities when he was still young. In August 1955 Moses Wright an uncle to Till from Mississippi came for a visit and after his visit he planned to take Wheeler Parker, a cousin to Till to Mississippi to visit relatives. Till happened to learn about the plans and requested his mother to accompany them. His body was the shipped to Chicago and his mother opted for an open casket funeral while his body was displayed for five days as many people came to witness the brutal killing.

It was latter that Carolyn confessed that he had not been harassed, threatened or touched her (Harold and Kevin 270). It was his death that provided a catalyst that was important for the American civil rights movement. Matthew Shepard Discussed below is the early life, education career and abduction of Matthew Shepard. Matthew Shepard whose parents were Judy and Dennis Shepard was born on 1st December in the year 1976 in a town called boomtown Casper. In 1998 due to his thirst for knowledge he enrolled for political science in Wyoming University where he became active in campus politic and he went ahead and joined the Lesbian Gay bisexual and Transgender Student alliance. In October 1998 some months after arriving in Laramie, Shepard met two men at a local pub who perceived him as a soft target and decided to rob him.

They took him to a remote place where they tied and beat him up. Matthew was left bleeding before he died at the age of 21. This lead to the formation of Hate crimes and Shepard Byrd prevention Act [2009] Chris Ochoa Chris Ochoa, like any other humble person from a humble background could never imagine that he was going to make it to college leave alone the law school. He once served as a district attorney for Durham before he was removed. Nifong also worked as a teacher and later on in 1978 he joined North Carolina University School of law. Nifong became a vice DA with the Durham County DA's office, and in 1979 he was appointed to be fully in charge and became a chief assistant following the promotion of Jim Hardin to a superior court.

Governor mike, appointed Nifong to fill Hardim’s position. Nifong, went ahead and won the democratic primary that was held on 2006 November for the Durham county district Attorney. Edgar ray Killen Edgar ray Killen went viral after he directed the murder of two freedom activists who were participating in the freedom summer. Edgar was born in Philadelphia to Lonnie and Etta Killen. He had 8 siblings. Killen just like any other person was a saw-mill operator and during his leisure time he used to minister. Whitlinger (2013), argued that Killen was a KU KLUX KLAN who was at the forefront in the murder of three activists. He died in January 2018. James Byrd Jr. James Byrd was a black American who was murdered by three whites.

He was born in 1949 in Texas. Before his murder James Byrd has been convicted of various crimes such as robbery and forgery. Many activists such as Jesse Jackson, condemned the murder. They viewed the murder as an extension of racism. His murder also lead to the creation of a foundation for racial healing known as James Byrd’s Foundation. Byrd’s murder to some extent, had impacts on the US politics too. Many advocacy groups were created including one that accused Bush of racism since he refused to take into account hate crime when he was Texas Governor and also the passing of James Byrd crime act by the 77th Texas legislature. The real extent and impact of the rampart scandal cannot be estimated since many misconducts such rape, robbery and forgery remains pending since they have not been solved.

Examples of the rampart scandal that are still remembered to date are: one is the officer Kevin Gaines road shootout that lead to the killing of one officer named Kevin Gaines in 1997 by undercover police. It was believed to be something to do with a road rage. Another scandal was a robbery of Los Angeles bank of Africa by a police officer and finally many investigations cover up by the Chief of police.
