The main problem that results during ethnic cleansing is increased migration, genocide as well as massive rape cases. The different aspects of ethnic cleansing can be considered to be a crime against humanity and are seen a significant violation of human rights. The government of Virana was subjected to this problem when they launched a campaign of ethnic cleansing against the Ziranna people1. The campaign led to forcibly moving out the Ziranna people in particular areas and caused a lot of extrajudicial killings. The type of brutality faced in Virana is an extreme case of ethnic cleansing and cannot be justified in any means possible. The international community is responsible for ensuring that the rights of all people across the world are highly protected3.

The United Nations has the rights to defend the rights of minority groups and provide different channels of justice. It is through the eye of the international community that people and communities have been able to obtain justice out of what has taken place in their lives. Specifically, the UN office seeks to promote knowledge and raise awareness about the fundamental dynamics that have historically led to the shaping of environments for the avoidance of ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity. In line with this aspect, the office has identified various short, medium-term and long-term dynamics which purposely works to create awareness all over the world. In such instances where there is an extreme problem, the responsibility to provide the needed protection is on the state.

The credibility of the international community, on the other hand, has enabled the government to face their actions. It has now become the responsibility of every individual and organization to overlook the whole matter and ensure that the government does not, in any case, extend their jurisdiction and exercise beyond what is essential and acceptable. Prevention is a great move that will save the Ziranna community from the ethnic cleansing and other atrocity crimes. These are the priority for the UN general assembly. Any actions taken should be undertaken through the security council in line with the UN charter by considering the available case by case alternatives6. The discussions highlighted in the general assembly was important as it brought a key understanding of what always takes place among the affected groups.

The UN has a key duty to prevent doctrine and make sure that genocide is not in the mirror of whatever happens. Extreme cases will be avoided and prevention established whenever such ethnic cleansing is outlined. It is a fact that genocide results in a lot of difficult situations and loss of life7. The UN general assembly came up with up to 52 resolutions and six decisions that seek to protect the rights of people all across the world10. A consensus was established for the major thematic resolutions including social development, advancement of women rights and the defense of ethnic targeted groups. The assembly unanimously adopted the contentious resolutions on the rights of individuals which puts into focus the rights of the underprivileged members in the society.

Among them are the minority group of the Zirana people. The issues imparted to them by the state is key and addressed by the UN to ensure that justice and the adequate equitable measures undertaken. The process was done in a forceful manner which was against the rights of the people. The people had to speak out for their rights to the international community. The government of Virana instead of being the defender of the law of the land went further and even to an extreme case allowed extrajudicial killings to take place. The UN general assembly had to come in place and give provisions that were aimed at helping the minority community in Virana find justice. The international justice bodies had to reorganize and give specific details that are necessary to safeguard the rights of the people in such situations.
