Global and Comparative Perspectives of Labor
A lot is being said concerning the world coming into a multipolar phase in worldwide governance, true to this, these BRICS countries have risen in power and China is the most powerful. These countries have risen into power mainly due to the non-flowing economies in the US and Eurozone. With these stagnations, the BRICS countries are acquiring more expertise, gaining more wealth and taking over power alongside the political powers to attain global advantages (Guerrero, 2013). The financial crisis that exists in the United States has stayed long enough and it is a sign that the US dominance is coming to an end and many see China as the most likely country among the BRICS to challenge the US. According to Bowles (2010), the best theory that explains the rise of the BRICS and globalization is the theory of multi-centered statism.
They argue that globalization increases the welfare of states globally that they can reap benefits of great specialization. Meaning that countries rise and shine globally due to their specializations in trading. I believe that the multi-centered statism is the best theory that best explains the BRICS because it acknowledges that these countries excel globally due to their powerful economies, as the major reason. It is good to get a global understanding that the rise of China came as a result of the combination of the continuous mixture of the world’s oldest civilization and the enormous modern state that results from many different states brought together as one many year ago. The BRICS summit of leaders is the key driver of globalization. Countries like Cambodia and Angola have long been forgotten economically globally but through the rise of the BRICS, they are now picking up through modernization in the ongoing globalization brought up by the BRICS.
The rise of the BRICS has primarily benefited the small economies who see this as a chance to grow from the support they get from the BRICS. However, the large economies such as the US are disadvantaged since the BRICS pose a threat to them. If China continues to uphold its track, then the BRICS countries will become equal to the Global Northern countries or even be greater than they come 2035 (Guerrero, 2013). In conclusion, the BRIC countries have risen into very strong and powerful countries that pose threats to the previously strong economies such as the US. Last but not least is that the employers have the approval of the government to take in foreign workers. If an employer wants to hire a TFWP, they first have to pass a test of the labor market and get the certificate of Skill and Economic Development Canada (Flecker, 2012).
TWFP is a good program as it ensures jobs are performed by people who are competent in it. In light of this, workers all over the world have found their working conditions and rewards affected by the powers of globalization. The best theory of globalization that best describes TWFP is the anti-neoliberal globalism. However, it has been used to bring in a large pool of workers into Canada who are vulnerable. The TWFP needs to be scaled over time and let it regain its original purpose. Secondly is that it needs to maintain its original goal of bringing permanent immigrants into Canada who may become citizens so as to restore its original purpose of the national building. Last but not least, the government should make it harder to give businesses access to labor markets unless they have valid reasons to access this program.
In the context of global labor solidarity in terms of TWFP, there will be the scrapping off of the rules so that the migrant workers can go on to renew their visas. Flecker, K.
