Mike’s perception towards john is that John cannot be motivated in any way and that he is lazy. Moreover, Mike thinks that John joined the group to take credit for some work he did not do. John observes that the group leadership does not have proper plans on how to accomplish various tasks. Moreover, the leadership does not consult the group members whenever making up schedules. He also feels that the group is disorganized. Seemingly, Mike’s group missed the point in this stage. The leader is usually the reference point when handling issues within the group. The leader needs to know the individuals he is dealing with in order to come up with relevant solutions (Stangor, p91). It is important to accommodate the various personality traits of the various individuals in this stage.

As alleged by John, Mike seems to have overstepped his roles and become more of a dictator. In this stage, the group members are usually aware of their goals and the strategic plans required in achieving the goals (Nelson and Quick, p41). The group is evidently stuck in the second stage of storming. The performing stage is normally followed by adjourning stage which is the final one in the model. This stage comes after the accomplishment of the strategic goal of the group. Mike’s group is not yet in this group and therefore, it would be prudent to concentrate on the first four stages when looking for a solution to the group’s process loss. Affect is the emotional part of an attitude (Nelson and Quick, p53).

This makes an individual have a particular feeling about someone or something. For instance, Mike has feels that John does not deserve to be part of the group. This is because he thinks that John cannot contribute any meaningful thing to the group work. At some point he feels demoralised as a leader by John simply because John has a different preference when it comes to team roles. He (John) does not confront the group members and the leaders directly to tell them about his feelings and opinions. Solutions There are two or more measures that can be implemented to address the problem facing Mike’s group through the causes. To address the poor attitude towards some individuals, the group members need to learn to appreciate diversity among them.

The warring factions (Mike and other group members and John) should be brought together to express their opinions. In this way, they understand each other better. This will also allow them to understand their various personality traits and how to handle them (Nelson and Quick, p41). The redevelopment process should also pay attention the second stage, storming, which seems to be the foundation of some of the problems in the group. Recommendation and Conclusion Redevelopment of the group is highly recommendable in this case. This is because it will help to address more than one issue and causes of problems in the group including the process loss, personality differences, and poor attitude among some members (Nelson and Quick, p41). Moreover, reconstructing the group will help the members to develop a new perspective in handling issues among them as well as integrating the group in a better way.
