The implication is that the cognition function of Norman has been affected to a greater extent. Based on common knowledge, the ability to remember things always fades with age just like in the case of Norman.

As indicated in the movie, when Norman and Chelsea were left alone in the house, they had a chat and had problems learning new information that her daughter was telling him to the extent that he gets furious. The situation of Norman that brought to light an aspect of psychological changes at old age can be explained using the different learning theories. In this regard, the focus will be on an element of cognitive learning theory that gives insights into the case of Norman. The theory implies that human being have the ability of processing information they receive instead of responding to stimuli. To summarize the whole process of processing information, it starts from the conveyance of information that have been trapped by the sensory organs and delivered to the primary memory before final delivery for storage. Here’s how this works: First, visual, auditory, or other sensory information (stimuli) enters into sensory memory. Information comes at us so fast that we have to be paying attention to a specific stimulus and pick it up quickly, or it disappears (Shanas et al. Once in sensory memory, where it stays for only tenths of a second, the information can then be actively moved into primary memory but stays there for only a few seconds unless we focus upon it. Primary memory has the capacity to hold limited information for a shorter duration.

The implication is that Norman embraces the sense of love and affection towards his wife just the same way he could show the feeling at early ages of marriage. In the case of Norman neuroticism is one of the most exceptional personality that can be used to depict a sense of psychological change in the character. Additionally, such a trait entails guilt, anger, loneliness, anger, worry, anxiety and frustrations. Norman as an old character has proved that some personality feeling that was eminent in him when he at a tender age is no longer prominent in him at old age.

The implication is that he never find it fun if continue to be alive because to him, he has achieved and experienced almost everything in the world. Further, Norman comes out as a character who had lost a sense of aesthetic sensitivity as evident when he went out to the field to pick berries. He comes back to the house, frustrated with no berries that he had picked (Healey, & Renes, 2014). He says that he returned from the house because he had panicked in the woods and just lost interest in the whole activity. The last consideration that implies to the aspect of psychological change in the movie and part of the personality trait eminent in Norman is consciousness. Even though the boyfriend to Chelsea made attempts to make a good impression to his father-in-law, he never feels motivated by such a gesture, and as a result, his relentless teasing angers Chelsea’s boyfriend.
