For instance, in the world war one, post war suicidal rates were so high due to many factors such as the war horrors and this occurred mainly on the front liners and it is believed that the death rates were high in a specific age group that is between (18-25). The ugly scenes of war on the battlefield leave them with depression and deprive their piece of mind. They face nightmares and get disturbed almost their entire life. Emotional and Psychological traumas are the worst injuries of war Those who participate in a war mostly look depressed, disabled and see themselves as useless. This is because they are haunted by guilt and eventually hate themselves. The reality of Jack trench warfare experience sparks tension in the family.

His father, however, was determined and rubbishes such thought. Rudyard used all means to ensure his son join the army despite the horrific memories of being killed in the war. Fusilier Beddos who participated in Bosnia war of 1994 said: "…only then would he let me explore the blown hinge of his jaw, and handle and hold the damaged, porcelain collar-borne, and mind and attend the fractured rudder of shoulder-blade, and finger and thumb the parachute silk of his punctured lung…” The poem captures a viewpoint of a wife of a soldier who had returned home and had sustained serious injuries. He said “I am depressed, useless, disabled and hate myself. Am guilty. Rudyard wanted to confess to her wife that he murdered his son.

His wife Carrie told him smoking cigarettes will not help. Carrie said “That won’t help “Carrie had earlier wondered if it was fair for Rudyard to encourage his son to join the army. Kipling after receiving a telegram about Jack whereabouts believed Jack was not hurt and just missing. Rudyard said, “John is not dead, he is missing and believe wounded," He thought it was a minor hiccup.
