Several rivers flow down through the hills. The climate here happens to be a semi-arid one with summers being hot and winters being cool. As a result, the area experiences great and fast changes in temperatures during these seasons. It sees a decline in temperature to 50-60 degrees in twelve hours. Usually, much precipitation is experienced from April- September. Water is life to every living thing. This neighborhood of Texas, fortunately, has adequate water from the streams across the hills. Majority of bees seek their shelter in tunnels and holes in the ground while others strive hard to get the holes in tree trunks and branches. While many bees live in solitary, some of them live in a colony way of life.

They have a queen, workers, and soldiers. The stinger is located at the back of the abdomen. It is a weapon during a time that it feels it has been attacked. It is the defensive mechanism that they use to protect their home and young ones together with the queen. It’s also important to note that once a bee has used its sting, it dies. Behavioral Adaptation: Apart from the physical adaptations bees possess, there are some behavioral adaptations as well. Fertilization occurs, and hence fruits are produced, and new plants are then realized. Bees are the main pollinators amongst all insects. They spend most of their time searching for nectar and pollen to feed their young ones. Pollen forms their big source of protein.

The hair found all over their bodies especially on their legs, are useful in pollination. Though bees feed mostly on nectar and pollen, most wasps consume other insects. They are carnivores. They possess slightly different characteristics to that of the bees like they don’t have a rough body, long tongue, yellow and black stripes. Below is a diagram showing the phylogenetic tree. Main organs and their functions As put earlier, a bee is an insect and hence has three main body parts: (1) the head (2) the thorax (3) the abdomen. The proboscis, on the other hand, is used as a vessel to suck nectar, honey, and water. Thorax This is the middle part of the body. It consists other organs like legs, pollen baskets, and wings.

This part connects the head and the abdomen. It’s like the pivot as it bears all the locomotive structures. On the other hand, plants evolved by producing complex flowers that hide nectar far inside so that bees can struggle to reach and in so doing become more efficient in pollinating them. If a bee was to be taken to another environment, I am certain it would survive given the environment has a flourishing flora full of sweet-scented flowers. However, the bee would not survive in polar or arctic environments where flowers aren’t seen. Its system will fail and finally die.
