What do teachers need to know about gender
Our world is surrounded and controlled by stereotypes and the educational system is no exception. The article examined the impact of gender stereotyping on children and their construction of identities especially when it interconnects with cultural background. These gender stereotypes create both obstacles and opportunities and their is need for educators and policy makers to address these stereotype. To bring this out clearly, the writers analyzed two children. The two kids were a Korean girl by the name Beth and a Chinese boy called Vincent. Personally I agree with the author’s argument brought out in the article. Actually, there are a lot of research papers that mainly focus on educational system, but only a few of them take the gender issue into consideration, the larger part aim to explain the difference between gender instead of the binary ideas about females and males.
